Edison Park result for  A player teams and B player teams

I am sorry to all for not being able to give better results about the games in Edison Park on September 25, 2004 but I can give the facts given to me by my man Rick. A total of 32 teams showed up because of the low entry fee of 5 dollars and 10 for A players.  There where two different types of  doubles games for A players and B players.  The winners of the A players were Pee Wee and Willie 2nd went to Robert Sortre and Partner  final score was 25 - 4.    For the B players it was a draw because the players couldn't see because of the night so Jerry and Pete  and Oscar and Lenny split the prizes for first and second

Wildman Rich Open women singles and Open Doubles a hit for Handball Players

On September 5, 2004 at Van Courtland park Wildman Rick had his Open singles for women and Open doubles for men.  For the women there where only 7 players with Trophies for First and second.  First place went to Jackie from Van Courtland park and second place went to Red (Regina).  In the Men's Open doubles  there where 22 teams and only two prizes $400 and Trophy for First and $200 for Second plus Trophy.  It came down to Pee wee and Willie vs. Rookie and Gio ( Lil Rook).  This was a hot game seen by all and played by the cream of the crop of handball players. In the beginning Rookie and Lil took a good lead over Pee wee and Willie the score was 8 to 3.  But like the master of doubles that Pee Wee is they then keep it close catching up 9 to 8.  It seem Rookie was getting upset because Pee Wee keep picking up his spikes.  The hard he hit it the faster Pee Wee ran to get it.  Then Rookie took a huge 5 point lead later in the game make the score 19 to 14 and of course the talking started between the Rook and Pee Wee.  It seem that a this point Pee Wee wasn't playing any more because in a plink of an eye him and Willie caught up and past Rookie and Lil score now 20 to 19 Pee Wee and Willie in front.  Rookie tried to make a last  effort to win the game but it fell short and the final score was 25 to 23 Pee Wee and Willie take First place and Rookie and Lil take second.

Rob and Snuka win at Castle Hill Open Doubles Tournament

It was a nice day on Sunday August 29 ,2004 sunny  nice a time for the wife and kids to hang out unless you wanted to play handball because at Castle hill it was War on the courts.  There were 10 teams at this event and there could only be one First prize winner.  Well we are sorry that Herman had to leave out on the final game because his son fell and hurt his arm.   I hope it wasn't broken.  Well  now for the results Fist place went to Rob and Snuka take First place for $200 prize, second went to Dave Rojas  and Herman Mendez that was $50, and third place got a page of pickles which went to Cisco and Henry Santiago.  The games were good but like true A players there were arguments that took 10 minutes to finish.  I wish I could have stayed to watch the after game events to report but I had to go to work.

Izzy and partner win the Parkside B doubles tournament

It was a great day on August 22, 2004  because of the rain the other day before but teams showed up for the Parkside B doubles tournaments.. There were 24 teams to show up to this handball event in Parkside but the supreme team turned out to be Izzy  from Bx and Nelson from Brooklyn final score was 21- 10 Izzy and Nelson vs. Mario and Pete.  First place Izzy and Partner won trophy and  $100 prize money, second place Mario and Pete won Trophy , and Dito and Lou (aka Porter Rock) third won trophy. All and all it was a good tournament not to many arguments and some good games to watch.  This tournament was run better then others that I have seen in the past.

King George is Dethroned and Rookie is Back on Top At the KING OF THE COURTS

On July 31 2004 The King of the courts was in full swing with 64 players at Roy Wilkins Park in Queens with a few new face that you will need to look out for.  For instance Little Carlos took out (A players )Herman Mendez in the first round in the First round followed by Joe (B player) from  LINCOLN TERRACE PARK and was finally stopped by Tyrone (A Player). Next we have Justin (B player) From LINCOLN TERRACE PARK who won 3 out of his 4 games in the tournament two (A players) Robert Sostra and Peewee Castro where beaten by him and one (B player).  He was finally stopped by (A players) Henry Santiago but barely won.   The final score was 21 -20 Henry.  Now to the main Event The finals Players were George and Rookie.  The people in the park were betting with points spreads of 5 points  and up that George would lose against Rookie this year a lot of people lost money I am glad to say.  In the beginning Rookie took the lead with the score 7 to 1 lead over George.  I was scared for George myself when some one in the crowd said " Come on George, all you have to do is ace and kill!   Ace and kill!".  Then it seemed like it was good advise because that's what George started to do.   The score went from 14 - 3 Rookies lead to 16 - 12 Rookie still in the lead.  But alas George couldn't keep up the momentum of gaining points.   Rookies lead that he got in the beginning showed why George wasn't going to win but George never game up.  The final score was 25 - 21 Rookie taking back the Crown from George.  Third place was won by Henry Santiago.

Anthony and Miguel win Bucksters tournament

On July 18 2004 Anthony and Miguel his younger brother won the Bucster Last New York tournament sponsored by  Burney and Mario it was a cloudy day but that didn't stop brothers of the ball from playing handball.  The tournament was Bucky's last tournament to be held in New York and Players showed up to play for the Trophies and free T-shirts to all the players.  Although the weather didn't hold up they finished the tournament in the rain.    First place went to Anthony and his brother Miguel who took the first place 6 ft trophies final score 21 - 10 over  Lenny and Javier who took second place with the 4 ft trophies.  Finally third place when to Irving and George who took the 2 ft trophies.

Allentown B doubles Results

P.A. Allentown B doubles Results Bucky and Mellow from the Bronx  take tournament from Staten Island Boys Second place  Zeav & Superman Frankie  P.A boys Skinny and Junior  take Third place.  Final game score was 25 - 18 Bucky and Mellow  took the whole tournament without losing one game.   One by one they broke through all the other teams even though most of the teams where from N.Y.   It wasn't easy all the teams where strong but in my opinion the Staten Island Team of Alfred and Jami gave them the most trouble.  The tournament thrown by Hector Diaz (middle) was a two game elimination tournament. First prize was $200 and trophy Second was $100 and trophy Third was just trophy
